Cristela Georgescu alleges death threats against Călin Georgescu

Cristela Georgescu, wife of former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, has made several allegations regarding the treatment of her husband and the state of democracy in Romania. In an interview with American influencer Mario Nawfal, she claimed that Călin Georgescu, who is currently in preventive detention on charges of fraud and forming an organized criminal group, has faced death threats and warnings of being ‘physically liquidated.’

Cristela Georgescu also alleged that authorities have interfered with the ability of supporters to broadcast live during her husband’s public appearances. She described frequent signal interference, stating that social media live streams would abruptly end whenever he appeared.

Citing Romania’s status as a strategic partner to the United States, she called for American intervention in the case. She further asserted that current civil liberties in the country are being severely impacted, comparing the situation unfavorably to the era of communism. Regarding her husband’s rise to prominence on TikTok, she denied the use of bot campaigns, attributing his viral popularity to his specific messaging.
