Cristhian Benalcázar dedicates winning goal to missing brother

Deportivo Cuenca striker Cristhian Benalcázar dedicated his first goal in LigaPro Serie A to his brother, Jefferson Benalcázar, who has been missing since December 2021.

During a match against Guayaquil City, Benalcázar scored the winning goal in the 78th minute. Following the victory, the player became visibly emotional during a press conference, revealing that his brother was last seen in the Salinas de Ibarra parish.

Benalcázar expressed his hope for his brother's well-being, stating, “I dedicate this goal both to my family and to a brother of mine who is missing, and I also ask for much strength and wisdom for him, wherever my little brother may be.” He noted that his brother had always been a primary supporter of his athletic career, frequently telling him that he would go far in life.
