Cristhian Noboa calls for Ecuadorian coach for national team
Former Ecuadorian national team midfielder Cristhian Noboa has advocated for the appointment of an Ecuadorian head coach to lead the national team following the departure of Sebastián Beccacece.
Speaking in an interview with Radio City, Noboa suggested that the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) should appoint an Ecuadorian interim manager to evaluate local talent. He noted that foreign coaches often prioritize established players over youth prospects, whereas local coaches like Sixto Vizuete have historically been effective at developing young talent.
Noboa also warned that the FEF's current institutional instability should be considered before committing to a long-term international coaching project, as leadership changes could disrupt a new coach's tenure.
