Cristiada film returns to Mexican cinemas with Spanish dubbing
The film ‘Cristiada’ is set to return to Mexican cinemas on October 15 with a new Spanish-language dubbing. Originally released in 2012, the film features lead actor Andy García, who provided the Spanish voiceover for his character to help convey the historical narrative to a broader Spanish-speaking audience.
The re-release coincides with the centenary of the Cristero War, a significant religious and political conflict in Mexico that occurred between 1926 and 1929. The film aims to preserve the historical memory of the era, which had profound social repercussions and left a lasting impact on various regions, including 59 municipalities in the State of Mexico and parts of Guanajuato.
During the film's presentation, Monsignor Guillermo Fernández Orozco emphasized that the conflict should be analyzed through its social causes and consequences rather than being viewed solely as a confrontation between Church and State. Andy García noted that understanding such historical chapters is a responsibility to the present, intended to provide lessons that help prevent the repetition of past errors.
