Cristian Jaime's success at Peñarol prevents River Plate recall
Cristian Jaime, a 20-year-old forward on loan from River Plate to Peñarol, has become a standout performer in Uruguayan football. Following a three-match goal drought, Jaime scored a left-footed goal and provided a technical assist in Peñarol's victory against Albion.
Despite his high level of play, River Plate is unable to trigger a recall clause to bring the player back to Argentina this December. The loan agreement included a repurchase option that was contingent on Jaime playing fewer than 360 minutes before the end of the year. Because Jaime quickly established himself as a starter and surpassed that minute threshold, Peñarol has secured his services through the first half of 2027. Jaime is expected to return to River Plate once the loan period concludes.
