Cristian Popescu Piedone signals political comeback in TikTok video

Cristian Popescu Piedone, the former head of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) and former mayor of Sector 5, has released a TikTok video signaling a political comeback. In the video, Piedone appears in military camouflage clothing, a cap, and aviator sunglasses, using a boomerang as a symbolic prop to message his political rivals.

He stated, "I am not NATO forces, I am the PNRR Piedone forces. I have come home. I am ready to start the fight with those who have upset me." He announced that he has the support of the party he founded, the Nationalist Reforming Romania Party (PNRR).

The social media post follows recent legal developments. On July 31, the Brașov Tribunal set a new hearing date in a corruption case brought by the National Anticorruption Directorate. This follows a May decision by the Brașov Court of Appeal, which rejected Piedone's appeal and allowed the trial to proceed.
