Cristian Tello announces retirement from professional football

Spanish winger Cristian Tello has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35. The former Barcelona academy graduate shared the news via social media, expressing gratitude for a career that allowed him to fulfill childhood dreams and meet people he will always cherish.

Tello’s career spanned several top-tier European clubs and multiple countries. After developing at La Masia, he played for Barcelona’s first team, contributing to their 2012/2013 La Liga title. His professional journey included notable stints at FC Porto, Fiorentina, Real Betis, and Los Angeles FC, as well as spells in Saudi Arabia with Al-Fateh and Al-Orobah.

His final professional chapter took place in the United Arab Emirates with Palm City FC. Following a period of unemployment after his contract was terminated earlier this year, the veteran player decided to conclude his playing days, stating that while the competitive drive may change, his happiness remains.
