Cristian Toro Calle resigns as Pereira Secretary of Economic Development
Cristian Toro Calle has resigned from his position as Secretary of Economic Development and Competitiveness for the city of Pereira. Toro Calle had held the post since the beginning of Mayor Mauricio Salazar’s administration in 2024. His tenure included managing employment strategies, entrepreneurship support, tourism promotion for events such as the Fiestas de la Cosecha, and economic reactivation efforts following an earthquake on August 10.
Reports indicate that Toro Calle is stepping down to pursue a political campaign for the regional and local elections scheduled for October of next year. His political efforts are reportedly focused on securing a seat in the Assembly, though his political alignment remains a subject of local speculation.
Luisa Fernanda Vidal León will take over the Secretariat in early October. A public accountant and specialist in High Management, Vidal currently serves as the department’s coordinator. She brings previous public sector experience, including roles with the Treasury Secretariat of Ulloa and as treasurer for the Institute of Mobility.
