CFR Cluj faces internal tension amid insolvency and poor form

CFR Cluj is navigating a difficult period characterized by financial insolvency and declining sporting performance. Following a 0-1 defeat against UTA Arad, head coach Marius Șumudică expressed intense dissatisfaction with the players' lack of aggression and attitude, threatening to leave the club if expectations are not met.

Club owner Ioan Varga has intervened to clarify the situation, stating that Șumudică’s frustrations were directed at the players rather than the management. Varga expressed continued support for the coach, noting that the club is in a transition year and that he is working to resolve financial issues to provide a better squad. Amidst these tensions, defender Christopher Braun has signed a contract extension with the club for another season.
