In an interview with CNN Portugal, the Al-Nassr forward revealed that despite their intense on-pitch rivalry, he and Messi maintained a respectful bond for over 15 years. Ronaldo recalled acting as an informal translator for Messi during various award ceremonies to help him understand English conversations.

Ronaldo described their competition as a ‘healthy rivalry’ that motivated both players to improve. He emphasized that while they defended their respective clubs and national teams, their personal relationship remained cordial.

Addressing his career, Ronaldo asserted that he remains the greatest player in history regardless of whether he reaches the 1,000-goal milestone. He expressed a desire to focus on the present rather than being obsessed with statistical records, noting that he is prepared to retire whenever his motivation fades.
