Cristiano Ronaldo provisionally suspended by Portuguese Football Federation

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has launched an urgent disciplinary proceeding against Cristiano Ronaldo following his abrupt departure from the national team camp in Copenhagen on September 30. Ronaldo is currently under a non-automatic provisional suspension while the investigation into the incident proceeds.

The conflict reportedly stems from a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo expressed frustration after being left on the bench during a Nations League match against Norway, alleging that Jesus failed to honor a prior agreement regarding his playing time. Following the incident, Ronaldo issued a public apology to his teammates and fans, accepting responsibility for his actions but also criticizing the coach's communication.

Under FPF regulations, leaving a team activity without justification can result in a suspension ranging from one to six months and fines between 500 and 1,000 euros. While the final penalty is pending, FPF President Pedro Proença expressed hope for Ronaldo's return to the squad by the November international window.
