Cristiano Ronaldo joins consortium to buy Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo is part of a five-investor consortium negotiating to acquire control of the Saudi Arabian football club Al-Nassr from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which currently holds a 75% stake.
The group includes Gerry Cardinale, CEO of RedBird Capital Partners and owner of AC Milan, alongside Saudi businessmen Ibrahim Al-Muhaidib, Mohammed Al-Khuraiji, and Sharaf Al-Hariri. Reports indicate that each member of the consortium may be required to contribute a minimum of $100 million to facilitate the acquisition.
If the deal is finalized, Ronaldo—who already reportedly holds a 5% stake in the club—would transition from being the team's star player to a co-owner. This move follows his recent investment in the Spanish club UD Almería, where he acquired a 25% stake in February. Representatives from the consortium are expected to meet with PIF officials within the coming days to discuss the terms of the potential takeover.
