Cristiano Ronaldo included in Portugal preliminary squad
Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in Portugal's preliminary squad for upcoming Nations League matches against Denmark and Wales in November. This inclusion follows a period of tension between the 41-year-old forward and head coach Jorge Jesus.
The dispute began in late September when Ronaldo abruptly left the national team camp in Copenhagen. The incident was triggered by dissatisfaction over playing time during a match against Norway, leading Ronaldo to accuse Jesus of failing to honor agreements regarding his participation. As a result, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) imposed a 30-day suspension and a 255-euro fine on the player.
Because the suspension was applied retroactively, Ronaldo will be eligible to return to international duty by the end of October. While his inclusion in the preliminary list does not guarantee a spot in the final squad, which is due to be announced on November 6, it signals a potential reconciliation. Portugal has already secured qualification for the Nations League quarter-finals, having won its first four matches.
