Cristiano Ronaldo rebuilds Madeira villa after childhood home demolition

Cristiano Ronaldo grew up in a modest house in the Santo António district of Madeira, sharing one room with his parents, brother Hugo and two sisters until age 11. The original family home was demolished in 2022, though a neighbor still points visitors to its former location.

In 2015 Ronaldo purchased a former newspaper warehouse at the entrance of Funchal’s harbor and, after four years of renovation, opened a seven‑storey modern villa in 2019. The €7 million project includes Olympic‑size swimming pools, a jacuzzi, two gyms, a mini‑football pitch and extensive terrace space, offering a stark contrast to his humble beginnings.

The villa highlights Ronaldo’s continued ties to his birthplace, Madeira, despite owning numerous multimillion‑dollar properties in Madrid, Turin and Riyadh.
