Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly prayed at Fatima for Messi to lose World Cup

According to the Marian magazine ‘Maria con Te’, published by Edizioni San Paolo, Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly prayed at the Sanctuary of Fatima to prevent his rival, Lionel Messi, from winning the World Cup.

The publication claims that in 2014, ahead of the World Cup final between Argentina and Germany, Ronaldo prayed before a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, asking that the Argentine team, led by Messi, would lose. The 2014 tournament resulted in a German victory.

The magazine also noted that Ronaldo and Georgina recently visited the Portuguese sanctuary for a special nuptial blessing following their civil wedding ceremony in Cascais on August 11. Ronaldo has described himself as a devout Catholic who attends church weekly to give thanks for his family and friends.
