Cristiano Ronaldo scores first goal of season for Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has made his first Saudi Pro League appearance of the 2026-27 season, scoring his 977th career goal during Al Nassr’s 4-0 victory over Al Riyadh. Ronaldo entered the match as a substitute in the 62nd minute after missing preseason training and the first two matches of the campaign.

Despite the goal, Ronaldo remains behind leaders Moussa Dembele and Ivan Toney in the Golden Boot race. Former Saudi international Ahmed Ateef has cautioned Al Nassr against starting the 41-year-old in high-stakes matches against top-tier opponents like Al Hilal and Al Ahli. Ateef argued that Ronaldo’s declining physical and technical ability to press and defend could leave the team effectively playing with ten men against title contenders.
