Cristiano Ronaldo sets World Cup record by scoring in six tournaments

Portugal defeated Uzbekistan 5‑0 in the Group K match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Houston. Captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice, including a goal in the sixth minute, to become the first player ever to score in six different World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026). At 41 years old, he also moved into the record books as the second‑oldest World Cup scorer, behind Michael Laudrup, and surpassed Eusebio to become Portugal’s all‑time leading World Cup scorer with ten goals.

The win kept Portugal in contention for a knockout‑stage spot, leaving them second in the group behind Colombia and setting up a decisive final match against Colombia later in the tournament.
