Cristiano Ronaldo signals potential retirement after 2026-27 season
Cristiano Ronaldo, the 41-year-old Portuguese football star, has indicated that the 2026-27 season will likely be his final year in professional football. In an interview with Vogue magazine, Ronaldo expressed his desire to leave a “spectacular legacy” after a career spanning 25 years of sacrifice.
Currently playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo is approaching a historic milestone of 1,000 career goals, having recorded 976 goals for club and country to date. His contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire in June 2027.
Regarding his life after football, Ronaldo stated that his future is “completely planned.” He intends to fill the void left by the sport by traveling, spending more time with his family, and pursuing interests such as playing padel. He also manages various business ventures in sectors including hospitality, media, and bottled water.
