Cristiano Ronaldo faces suspension after leaving Portugal national team

Cristiano Ronaldo faces a potential suspension of one to three months following his abrupt departure from the Portugal national team camp on September 30. The incident occurred during a Nations League period after a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo reportedly felt disrespected after being asked to warm up for a match against Norway on September 27 but not being substituted into the game.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has opened an urgent disciplinary investigation into the matter. While the federation's regulations allow for suspensions of up to six months and minimum fines of 510 euros, Ronaldo has issued a statement acknowledging his error and apologizing to teammates and fans. This apology may potentially reduce the maximum penalty to three months.

In recent interviews, the 41-year-old striker has also asserted his status as the greatest footballer in history, citing his career goal tally as evidence. Despite the ongoing disciplinary proceedings and his current preventive suspension, FPF president Pedro Proença has expressed hope for Ronaldo's return to the squad for upcoming matches in November.
