Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup record and future prospects

Cristiano Ronaldo has recorded two assists in FIFA World Cup history, achieved over 24 matches in six tournaments and scoring ten goals, the most for Portugal. His first assist came in the 2010 7-0 win over North Korea, and the second in the 2014 2-2 draw with the United States.

At 41, Ronaldo is playing in the 2026 World Cup, which he has confirmed will be his final appearance. Former England international and pundit Danny Mills said Ronaldo is unlikely to feature in the 2030 tournament, suggesting he may become a manager or player‑coach instead. Mills cited age and injury risk, stating "he’s one injury away from being done," and noted potential resistance from teammates. Ronaldo's future role with Portugal therefore appears limited to non‑playing capacities beyond 2026.
