Cristina Fernández de Kirchner asks Supreme Court to halt property seizure

Former Argentine president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner filed a recurso de queja before the Supreme Court of the Nation seeking to stop the seizure of 19 properties linked to her children, Máximo and Florencia Kirchner, in the Vialidad case. The assets, located in Santa Cruz province—including apartments in Río Gallegos and land in the Lago Argentino department—are alleged to be proceeds of illicit activity, a claim the defense rejects, saying the holdings were acquired legally and the children have not been convicted.

At the same time, legislators from the ruling Unión por la Patria bloc held a press conference demanding Kirchner’s release from house arrest after one year, accusing the judiciary of arbitrariness. They submitted a letter to the Supreme Court and the Council of the Magistracy urging reversal of her detention conditions and highlighting concerns over due process.
