Cristina Kirchner's pension reinstated by court order

The National Social Security Administration (Anses) has provisionally reinstated a lifelong pension payment to former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. This action follows a precautionary measure issued by judges Juan Fantini and Sebastián Russo of the Federal Social Security Chamber (Sala 3).

The pension, derived from former President Néstor Kirchner, was administratively suspended in late 2024 following the ratification of a criminal conviction in the Vialidad case. The current judicial order mandates the temporary resumption of the benefit for subsistence reasons while the main legal proceedings continue.

The gross monthly payment is $16,090,877.01, resulting in a net amount of approximately $12 million after legal deductions and income tax. Anses is also applying a 20% monthly deduction to recover approximately $660 million in sums previously deemed to have been received improperly.

Additionally, the agency has declined to include the 'Zona Austral' allowance and the former head of state benefit. Both Anses and the Public Prosecutor's Office have filed appeals with the Supreme Court to revoke the injunction.
