Cristina Paraira targets public transport improvements to reduce vehicle use

Cristina Paraira, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Management, Mobility, and Climate Change, has identified the improvement of bus services as a primary challenge for the city. She stated that enhancing public transport is essential to reducing private vehicle use in the city center.

Paraira noted that a new service is being developed through an agreement with the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) to promote more sustainable mobility. Additionally, she addressed climate change mitigation efforts, including the installation of air conditioning in nursery schools and the creation of shaded public spaces to combat rising temperatures.
