Cristina Ranzolin marks 30 years as host of Brazil’s Jornal do Almoço
On 8 April, veteran journalist Cristina Ranzolin celebrated three decades as the anchor of RBS TV’s Jornal do Almoço. The program aired a special live tribute that gathered family, friends, colleagues and former presenter Maria do Carmo. Ranzolin wore the same outfit she debuted in 1996, received a bouquet and a commemorative plaque presented by journalist Elói Zorzetto, and was praised by publisher Nelson Sirotsky as a symbol of the connection between the show and its Rio Grande do Sul audience.
Ranzolin began her career at RBS TV in 1988, later hosted Campo & Lavoura, Bom Dia Rio Grande and Rede Regional de Notícias, and briefly anchored Globo’s Jornal Hoje in 1993 before returning to lead the revamped Jornal do Almoço in 1996. The celebration also highlighted upcoming milestones – her 60th birthday, 40 years in journalism, and the conclusion of her recent breast‑cancer treatment – and announced that her story will be featured as the official samba‑school theme in Porto Alegre in 2027.
