Cristina Saavedra reflects on departure from LaSexta

Journalist Cristina Saavedra has reflected on her departure from the Spanish news channel LaSexta one year after her exit. On social media, Saavedra described her departure after nearly two decades with the network as an “abrupt exit that was not in the plans.”

Reports indicate that her departure followed a change in newsroom leadership and a proposal from the network to transition her to weekend news or behind-the-scenes roles, which she declined.

Since leaving the broadcaster, Saavedra has focused her efforts on humanitarian work through Global Humanitaria. She has been actively involved in projects in Ivory Coast, including the construction of classrooms and a school dining hall in Ousmanekro to support local children and agricultural cooperatives.
