The Christ the Redeemer Archdiocesan Sanctuary in Rio de Janeiro and the Cathedral of Saint Peter of Alcantara in Petrópolis have signed a twinning agreement to strengthen cooperation. The partnership focuses on joint actions in evangelization, heritage preservation, culture, research, and religious tourism.

The agreement was signed by Cardinal Dom Orani João Tempesta, Bishop Dom Joel Portella Amado, Father Omar Raposo, and Father Thomas Andrade Gimenez Dias. The ceremony took place on Thursday night at the Petrópolis Cathedral, coinciding with the 95th anniversary of Christ the Redeemer and the 80th anniversary of the Diocese of Petrópolis.

One of the initial outcomes of this partnership is the official installation of the Tourism Pastoral in the Diocese of Petrópolis, which aims to promote sustainable and cultural tourism. The two monuments share historical links, including the involvement of engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, who worked on both sites.
