Cristo Redentor celebrates Visitor Center decade and unveils centennial seal
The Paineiras Visitor Center in Rio de Janeiro marked its 10th anniversary on 28 July 2026, commemorating a decade of serving more than 10 million tourists en route to the iconic Cristo Redentor. The celebration featured a blessing by the sanctuary’s rector Padre Omar, a free samba performance, and special programming honoring the historic building originally opened by Emperor Dom Pedro II in 1884.
A day earlier, the Cristo Redentor sanctuary launched the official seal for its centennial celebrations, set for 2031. The ceremony, held at the Obra Social Leste Um in Jardim Botânico, was presided over by Padre Omar and introduced the visual identity that will guide all centennial‑related activities. The seal and accompanying guidelines were presented to representatives responsible for the upcoming commemorations.
