Cáritas Argentina promotes charitable legacies through wills
Cáritas Argentina is participating in ‘Legados Solidarios’, an initiative involving 14 organizations designed to inform the public about the legal possibility of allocating part of their estate to social causes through a will.
The campaign aims to clarify doubts regarding this mechanism, which remains relatively unknown in Argentina, and offers free advisory services. Under current national legislation, individuals can designate the disposable portion of their assets to a social organization without affecting the rights of forced heirs. These contributions can take the form of a specific sum of money, a particular asset, or a proportion of the inheritance.
In 2025, participating organizations received over 4,700 inquiries, with more than 30 individuals incorporating these causes into their wills. The initiative highlights a growing international and regional trend where individuals integrate social values into their long-term estate planning to support community work and social justice.
