Cáritas Diocesana de Viseu inaugurates new daycare facilities

The Bishop of Viseu, Dom António Luciano, inaugurated and blessed the new facilities of the Cáritas Diocesana de Viseu daycare at the Socio-Pastoral Center. The expansion aims to address increasing local demand by increasing the center's capacity from 25 to 42 children, all of whom have already been placed.

The project involved an investment of approximately 300,000 euros, funded entirely by the organization's own resources. Deacon Felisberto Marques, the outgoing president of the Cáritas board, noted that bureaucratic difficulties prevented the project from receiving external co-financing, though the works were awarded following public procurement rules. He expressed confidence that the partnership with Social Security will ensure the project's long-term viability and allow for the amortization of the investment.
