Cáritas expands community aid in Argentina with new textile cooperative headquarters and winter clothing fair

Cáritas and the Cooperativa Textil San Cayetano inaugurated a new shared headquarters at the Cáritas office in the Cathedral of Chascomús. The facility will host the textile workshop, which produces flat textiles such as tablecloths and curtains, and will strengthen social assistance for vulnerable families. Monseñor Juan Ignacio Liébana described the project as “the work of the Church for the most needy,” while cooperative coordinator Rosario Anchorena added, “With activity we can dream; the idea of this project is always to give more and more work.” The cooperative, now with 45 workers, partners with Edesur in a circular‑economy scheme, recycling discarded uniforms into new garments.

Separately, Cáritas announced a winter‑clothing fair to be held at the Parish María Madre de Dios. Low‑cost jackets, sweaters and other garments will be sold to provide warm clothing to those in need and to generate funds for the charity’s projects. The fair will use a new orderly entry system to avoid crowding. During the same interview, Cáritas representatives confirmed that David will be ordained as a priest on 12 July at the Cathedral, a notable event for the local religious community.
