Critical mineral exploration expands in Canada and the US
Osisko Metals Incorporated has announced plans to establish a new mineral exploration entity, Osisko Critical Minerals Corporation (OCMC). Led by CEO John Burzynski, the new company will focus on unlocking value from non-core mineral exploration properties located in New Brunswick, Canada. The portfolio includes a copper-silver-gold porphyry-skarn target area in northern New Brunswick, which the company intends to develop through an aggressive exploration and drilling program.
Separately, Canadian Phosphate Limited is expanding its North American footprint to address critical mineral needs. The company is currently conducting drilling operations at its Wapiti and Fernie projects in British Columbia and has recently acquired the Diamond Mountain project in Utah. Canadian Phosphate aims to bridge the supply gap for phosphate, a mineral classified as critical by the United States, Canada, and the European Union. Assay results for the Wapiti project are expected in September, with an updated mineral resource estimate anticipated in the fourth quarter.
