Croat officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina visit Washington

A delegation of high-ranking Croat officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina recently conducted a multi-day visit to Washington, D.C. The delegation was led by HDZ BiH Vice President and Parliamentary Assembly member Darijana Filipović, with BiH Minister of Justice Davor Bunoza also in attendance.

During the visit, the group held meetings at the U.S. Department of Energy with officials including William Schiran, Deputy Assistant Minister for Multilateral Cooperation, and Daniel Byers, Deputy Assistant Minister for Europe and Eurasia. Key discussion topics included the South Gas Interconnection project, connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina to the LNG terminal on Krk, American energy investments, and the development of infrastructure and new technologies.

Max Primorac, a senior fellow at The Heritage Foundation, described the visit as “historic,” noting it as a significant moment for Croat representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina to engage directly with the U.S. administration. Primorac suggested the visit marks a new beginning for Croat-American relations, aiming to address what he characterized as a lack of understanding within Washington regarding the position of Croats in the region.
