Croatia advances geothermal and health tourism investments

Significant investments in geothermal and health tourism are nearing completion or have launched in Croatia. In Bjelovar, the Wellovar geothermal sports and recreation complex is entering its final construction phase. The facility features ten pools, including an Olympic-sized pool, and utilizes geothermal energy from depths of up to 1,500 meters to maintain water temperatures between 33 and 83 degrees Celsius. The project aims to position Bjelovar as a key destination on the Croatian tourism map through an energy-sustainable system combining geothermal and solar power.

In Stubičke Toplice, the Thermal hotel Wrello has officially opened, marking a major milestone for the Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation. This four-star hotel and covered pool complex integrates medical rehabilitation with wellness and hospitality services to provide year-round availability. The project, supported by European funds, is part of a long-term vision to enhance health tourism in the Krapinsko-zagorska County region.
