Croatia agricultural updates: Self-service stands and autumn produce arrival

Agricultural seasonal transitions are being observed across Croatia, from innovative sales methods in Đakovo to the arrival of autumn produce in Zagreb's markets.

In Đakovo, farmer Benjamin Knezičić has implemented a self-service stand on Stjepana kralja Držislava Street. The stand operates on a trust basis, allowing customers to select fruits and vegetables—including pumpkins, corn, and various seasonal produce—and pay themselves using a cash box. Knezičić, who manages the farm in Gašinci, reports that the trust-based system has been successful.

Meanwhile, at the Dolac market in Zagreb, the first domestic pumpkins, such as butternut and Muskat varieties, have arrived for the autumn season. Local vendors report that while seasonal fruits like plums, grapes, and pears are available, demand for warm autumn dishes like pumpkin soup remains low due to the lingering warm weather.
