Croatia allocates €19 million in green‑infrastructure grants to Velika Gorica and Imotski

The Croatian government and Ministry of Regional Development approved more than €19 million in non‑repayable funds for urban green projects in the Zagreb County town of Velika Gorica. Twelve contracts were signed, including a €4.5 million grant for the “Children’s Green Network – Noble Pauković” initiative, which will create a network of green spaces linking school yards, sports fields, pedestrian corridors and an urban forest, plant nearly 1,700 trees and improve four primary schools.

In the Dalmatian town of Imotski, the local mayor signed a contract for €34 thousand to equip and landscape a new kindergarten, part of the same Sustainable Development Programme. Overall, the June decision released €120 million for green‑infrastructure projects across the country, with more than 150,000 trees already planted under the scheme.

The funding, announced by Deputy Prime Minister Branko Bačić and Environment Fund director Luka Balen, aims to improve quality of life, address climate challenges and support demographic renewal in Croatian municipalities.
