Croatia allocates €35 million to certified seed and seedling program

The Croatian government approved a five‑year support programme for the sowing of certified seed and the planting of certified seedlings covering 2026‑2030, with a total budget of €35 million, of which €7 million is allocated each year. The scheme, presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture David Vlajčić, aims to assist roughly 80 000 farmers cultivating soy or other legume grains on about 300 000 ha, covering around 50 % of seed costs, and also supports about 15 000 horticultural and viticultural holdings with certified fruit and vine planting material.

Annual allocations include €6.2 million for certified seed of soy and legumes and €0.8 million for certified fruit and vine seedlings. The programme seeks to promote the use of high‑quality, disease‑free material, improve yield stability, reduce ecological and health risks and enhance self‑sufficiency in the food supply chain.
