Croatia allocates EU cohesion funds to industry innovation and green infrastructure

The Ministry of Economy announced a public call for proposals under the EU‑backed "Competitiveness and Cohesion 2021‑2027" programme, making €17,188,524 available to commercialise innovative products in the processing industry. The scheme targets micro, small and medium‑sized enterprises, offering non‑repayable grants of €150‑450 k (up to 50 % of eligible costs) for projects that meet at least TRL 7, incorporate digitalisation or a green transition, and satisfy financial and employment criteria. Applications are accepted from 1 September 2026.

Separately, the town of Slunj will implement a €1,011,275 project funded by the European Regional Development Fund to revitalise green infrastructure. The two‑year programme (May 2026‑May 2028) will create a network of eco‑friendly spaces covering 16,744 m², plant more than 300 trees and 1,500 native seedlings, remove invasive species, install urban equipment and build an inclusive playground.

Both initiatives are part of Croatia's plan to use EU cohesion resources to boost industrial innovation and improve urban environmental resilience.
