Croatia and Bosnia commit over €250 million to rail and road upgrades

In eastern Croatia, the 32‑kilometre Osijek–Koška railway line is being rebuilt at a cost of €25 million, with works scheduled to finish by 30 June 2027. Officials including Deputy Mayor Dragan Vulin and State Secretary Žarko Tušek highlighted the line’s role in the regional rail corridor linking Osijek with Zagreb and noted that post‑upgrade trains will run at up to 100 km/h.

In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, public enterprise JP Ceste FBiH signed contracts worth 46.3 million convertible marks to maintain 2 450 km of main roads from July 2026 to June 2027. The agreements cover ten sections across multiple cantons and aim to improve safety, repair potholes and upgrade signage, though observers question the visibility of the investment on the ground.

Both projects form part of a broader push to modernise transport infrastructure in the Western Balkans, with combined spending exceeding €250 million.
