Croatia and Malta lead EU in agricultural price increases

According to Eurostat data, Croatia and Malta experienced the highest increase in agricultural product prices within the EU during the second quarter, with both countries seeing a 3.9 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

This trend contrasts with the broader EU market, where agricultural prices fell by 5.8 percent on average. Significant price drops were observed in Denmark (-17.2 percent), Ireland (-16.2 percent), Latvia, and Estonia (-14.5 percent). Within the EU, milk prices decreased by 16.6 percent, cereals by 5.6 percent, and fresh fruit by 8.3 percent.

In Croatia, while the overall increase is lower than the 8.6 percent rise seen at the start of the year, specific items saw significant hikes. Fresh vegetables in Croatia rose by 7.8 percent, and beans experienced a sharp increase of nearly 25 percent compared to the previous year.
