Serbia announces financial aid for pensioners and citizens
The Serbian government has announced a series of financial aid payments for pensioners and adult citizens. According to President Aleksandar Vučić, one-time assistance for pensioners, ranging from 20,000 to 35,000 dinars, is scheduled to begin on September 14. This aid is intended to be distributed automatically via bank accounts or mail.
Additionally, adult citizens can apply for a one-time payment of 6,000 dinars starting September 7, with disbursements beginning on September 22. The total funding for these initiatives involves approximately 960 million dinars from the state budget and 246 million dinars from the Shareholders' Fund. Payments are expected to occur in waves during September, December, and January.
The Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO) has also adjusted its 2026 financial plan, increasing its budget by 4.7 percent to accommodate these and other social support measures, including funds for pensioner rehabilitation.
