Croatia announces 1.25 million euro program for horse breeding
Croatian Minister of Agriculture David Vlajčić opened the international gallop competition, the Zagreb Mile, at the Zagreb Hippodrome. During the event, he emphasized the government's commitment to improving conditions for breeding high-quality horses and strengthening domestic equestrian sports to support rural development.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is providing financial support for race organization and the development of equestrianism in Croatia. To ensure long-term progress, a National Program for the development of thoroughbred breeds has been established for the period from 2026 to 2030. This program is valued at 1.25 million euros, allocating 250,000 euros annually to encourage the breeding of thoroughbreds, improve the quality of Croatian-origin horses and foals, and increase their participation in sporting competitions.
