Croatia announces 20 million euro subsidy for electric vehicles
The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund will launch a new public tender in October to co-finance the purchase of energy-efficient vehicles for citizens. With a budget of 20 million euros, the program aims to support the acquisition of approximately 3,000 new vehicles.
New incentive tiers for electric cars are based on vehicle price. For cars costing up to 35,000 euros (including VAT), citizens can receive up to 9,000 euros. For vehicles priced above 35,000 euros, the subsidy increases to a maximum of 7,000 euros. In both cases, the Fund will cover a maximum of 40 percent of the vehicle price. Electric cars exceeding 62,500 euros are ineligible for this program.
Subsidies are also available for electric mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles (categories L1-L7) up to 2,500 euros, provided the vehicle price does not exceed 35,000 euros. Each citizen is eligible for a subsidy for only one vehicle, which can be purchased outright or through financial leasing; operational leasing is not permitted.
Applicants must apply directly to the Fund electronically via the eFZOEU system. Required documentation includes an informative offer detailing the price, manufacturer, model, and propulsion type, along with a certificate of residence and a signed statement. Vehicles fully paid for before the public call is announced will not be eligible, though deposits may be recognized.
