Croatia apartment owner loses luxury rental to fire caused by tourists

An apartment owner in Cancini, near Poreč, reported the total destruction of his luxury rental property following a fire allegedly caused by German tourists. The owner, Markica Kikić, stated that the guests violated house rules by bringing nine unregistered visitors, bringing the total number of people on the premises to thirteen.

According to the owner, the group was hosting a loud party with music and grilling when the fire broke out. Kikić described a scene of chaos where thick black smoke emerged from the apartment while some guests continued to celebrate. Police are reportedly investigating a 44-year-old German female citizen in connection with the incident.

The fire caused extensive damage to the approximately 100-square-meter luxury apartment, which featured high-quality custom furniture. Kikić expressed deep psychological distress over the event, noting that the material loss is significant, though exact costs are yet to be determined by experts.
