Croatia Approves 26 New Ambulances and Tightens Vehicle First‑Aid Kit Rules

The Croatian government gave the Ministry of Health approval to purchase 26 new ambulances for county emergency services, at a total cost of €4.11 million. Three vehicles will go to Zagreb, two each to Osijek‑Baranja, Primorje‑Gorski Kotar and Split‑Dalmatia, and one each to the remaining counties, adding to the existing fleet of 471 ambulances.

In the same session, the cabinet also authorized state‑budget funding for professional supervision of the first phase of the National Children’s Hospital project in Blato, worth over €3 million. Additionally, the government established a Council for Regional Development to advise on regional policy, with its inaugural meeting set for 3 July in Đakovo.

Separately, Croatian law requires every motor vehicle in categories M and N to carry a first‑aid kit that meets standard HRN 1112. The kit must include specific bandages, dressings, safety pins, triangular bandages, scissors, gloves and other items, with a fine of €30 for non‑compliance.
