Regional tourism and labor trends show growth in Rijeka and Tivat

Regional economic data indicates significant shifts in tourism and labor markets across Croatia and Montenegro. In Croatia, passenger traffic at major airports showed mixed results for August; while Dubrovnik saw a 4% increase, Split and Zagreb experienced declines of 3.1% and 2.4% respectively. However, Rijeka Airport reported a substantial 33.8% year-on-year increase in September, surpassing its total 2025 passenger count within the first nine months of the year.

In Montenegro, Tivat Airport is nearing record levels, with September passenger numbers up 8.3% compared to the previous year. The airport is projected to exceed its previous annual record by October.

Financial indicators for Croatian tourism remain strong, with foreign tourist revenue exceeding 4.5 billion euros in the first half of the year, a nearly 5% increase. Conversely, Croatian citizens' spending on foreign travel rose by 27% to 1.09 billion euros in the first six months.

Labor market data from the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) shows a 16% decrease in registered unemployed persons in September compared to last year, though some regions like Split-Dalmatia noted a decrease in new employment placements in specific sectors such as accommodation and food services.
