Croatia basketball team nears World Cup qualification after Netherlands win

The Croatian national basketball team has moved closer to qualifying for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar following a dramatic 101-99 victory over the Netherlands in Almere. Despite trailing by 14 points in the first half, Croatia staged a significant comeback in the second half to secure the win.

Key performers included Ivica Zubac, who recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Dario Šarić, who also contributed 24 points and six assists. Luka Božić added 18 points, while Mario Hezonja scored 16. With this result, Croatia holds a 7-1 record in Group K, placing them in a strong position to secure one of the three qualifying spots from the group.

Head coach Tomislav Mijatović praised the team's character and determination, noting that while the performance was not their strongest, the players' ability to execute in the second half was vital. Official qualification confirmation is expected following the fifth qualifying window in late November.
