Infrastructure projects advance in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia
Major infrastructure projects are advancing in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, preparations for the 44-kilometer Banja Luka – Mrkonjić Grad motorway section have entered the final phase. A proposal for the land parcelation plan has been opened for public inspection, marking a key administrative step toward construction. This project is expected to improve connectivity in western Republika Srpska and stimulate economic and tourism growth.
In Croatia, significant railway and road upgrades are underway. Construction has begun on a second track for the Hrvatski Leskovac – Karlovac line, part of a larger project to modernize the Zagreb – Rijeka corridor. The Spanish company Comsa S. A. has signed a contract with HŽ Infrastruktura to reconstruct the line, build new bridges and tunnels, and enable train speeds of up to 160 km/h. This investment, valued at approximately 348.5 million euros for this specific section, aims to reduce travel time between Karlovac and Zagreb to roughly 20 minutes by 2029.
