Croatia Begins Disbursing National Elderly Allowance to 19,415 Recipients
From Friday 17 July, Croatia will start paying the monthly national allowance for June to 19,415 eligible seniors, according to the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO). The payment of €160.22 per person will be credited to beneficiaries' bank accounts and will cost more than €3.1 million for the state budget. Women make up about 80 % of recipients.
Eligibility is limited to Croatian citizens aged 65 or older who have continuously resided in the country for at least ten years, are not receiving a pension or mandatory pension insurance, and whose household income per capita in the previous year did not exceed €320.44. Applicants must also not receive the guaranteed minimum income or residential care benefits. Applications can be submitted at any time through HZMO regional offices, by registered mail or online via the e‑Građani portal.
