Croatia boiler service controversy over 600 euro repair bill

A controversy has emerged on Reddit regarding the high cost of an authorized boiler service in Croatia. A user reported that her elderly mother was charged a total of 600 euros for a repair that lasted just over an hour.

The initial service fee was 200 euros, which was known in advance. However, the final bill increased significantly after the technician replaced an automatic gas vent and an electrode assembly, with each part replacement costing an additional 200 euros. While the technician reportedly showed the faulty parts and disclosed prices before proceeding, the user expressed concern that the pricing was exploitative, especially given the lack of online reviews for the service provider.

Online commenters have criticized the charges, with some suggesting that the cost of parts is typically much lower and that the high fees primarily cover labor. Some users argued that the total amount was excessive and suggested that such service prices should be regulated.
