Croatia celebrates Bread Day and gratitude for harvests

Communities in Croatia held various celebrations to mark Bread Day and express gratitude for the fruits of the earth.

In Jakšić, children from the Jakšić Kindergarten organized a program at the Church of Saint Barbara. Through recitations and songs, the youngest participants expressed thanks for the daily bread and the labor of farmers and bakers.

At the Stjepan Cvrković Elementary School in Stari Mikanovci, students, staff, and parents gathered for a similar commemoration. The event included dramatic performances by older students dressed in traditional attire, musical accompaniment from the school choir, and a blessing of various bread products by former parish priest Ivan Lenić. The program emphasized the symbolic importance of bread in bringing families together.
